Italy Revisited

After visiting Italy in 2014, we knew we wanted to return. The opportunity arose with an invitation to a wedding in Tuscany, coincidentally, at the same time of year as our first trip. Months of planning culminated in a Business Class flight, via Abu Dhabi, to Rome. We overdosed on the sights on the first day and retreated to the countryside for a cooking class on the second. It was a perfect combination.

We then journeyed by train to the beautiful town of Lucca for two nights, a place we fell in love with last time. Not far from Lucca, Villa Boccella was our home for the following week. The wedding party and guests shared some wonderful experiences – the wedding, of course, being the highlight.

We parted ways at the end of the week and we spent two nights at Le Grazie, Portovenere. We were disappointed to miss Cinque Terre on our last trip but this time we didn’t miss the opportunity to explore the fascinating towns. Our final ten days were spent at a magnificent 16th century farmhouse near the small town of Acquapendente in northern Lazio. Michael’s brother and sister-in-law from Texas made the journey to share six of those days with us. We made the most of our days, we wanted to see as much as possible in that time together. If only it could have been six weeks…..
